Nina Gunde Cimerman, was chairman of the Workshop: Microbial life at the limit. Second FEMS Congress of European Microbiologists, Spain, Madrid July 4-8, 2006.
B.01 Organiser of a scientific meeting
COBISS.SI-ID: 21724121Darja Žgur-Bertok was principal investigator of the project: Colicins model system for studies of gene expression and protein-protein interactions (2004-2007). Darja Žgur-Bertok was co-leader of a joint Slovene-Israel project: REgulation of synthesis of antibiotics of Escherichia coli.
D.01 Chairing over/coordinating (international and national) projects
COBISS.SI-ID: 25102297Phenotypic heterogeneity is present in all organisms and enables populaitons to adapt to environmental perturbations. Colicins are bacteriocins encoded on plasmids of E. coli. Results of studies of expression of the colicin K acitivity gene revealed that expression depends upon: 1) induction of the SOS system, 2) affinity of LexA binding to operator sequencs and 3) stochastic factors.
B.04 Guest lecture
COBISS.SI-ID: 21693657As a visiting professor Darja Žgur-Bertok worked on joint research of regulation of colicin synthesis in E. coli. For their students she presented a lecture: Colicin K synthesis is regulated by ppGpp and the SOS response.
B.05 Guest lecturer at an institute/university
COBISS.SI-ID: 24315353At the 4. Congress of the Slovene genetic society, young researcher Matej Butala, was awarded the Golden chromosome award for his work: Temperature regulated synthesis of colicin K.
