Considering larger and larger needs of thorough digestion of sludge from municipal wastewater treatment plants and waste industrial slurries we denounced a patent in which we defined biogas production with anaerobic and aerobic thermophilic system that is applicable as for treatment of waste sludge from biological wastewater treatment plants as for waste slurry from different industries.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3032090For one of slovenian breweries ae carried out research in wastewater and waste slurry treatment. Research has shown , that it is possibe to reduce the energy demand by 10-15% and lower the expences for 1 million € annually.

COBISS.SI-ID: 3557914For a slovenian pharmaceutical company we carried out research of anaerobic treatment of waste fermentation broth. The broth was problematic due to toxic effects on active anaerobic biomass. We successfully determined the technology for treatment and biogas production in a mesophilic digester of biogas plant Kolar. With the treatment of the waste broth, the biogas yield increased by 40%.
F.10 Improvements to an existing technological process or technology
COBISS.SI-ID: 3651610We have developed a new process for excess sludge treatment suitable for small WWTP’s of up to 10000 PE. Process is batch in nature and is composed of several phases. Sludge is autothermally heated to 60°C and simultaneously hygenized and stabilized. It is possible to add a nitrification phase to the process to reduce ammonia content in the sludge supernatant. Process was successfully tested in a pilot scale plant of 150 PE in size.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4033050Research work, based on programme and bilateral project Slovenia-Slovakia was presented at the international conference (1200 participants) as platform presentation. Innovative approach for treatment of heavily polluted landfill leachate has gained attention due to its importance for landfill management and wastewater treatment systems. Landfill leachates are well known by their complexity and changeable composition resulting in heavy environmental impact. The presented problem is relevant for all European countries, not only for Slovenia.
