Determination of the geoid is one the most demanding tasks in geodetic science. There exist several methods for geoid determination, each theoretically exact but depending on the available data. The advent of satellite geodesy changed the situation with the availability of high quality data. The paper presents the local geoid surface approximation using artificial neural networks further improved using least squares collocation. The method is a new approach and met a turbulent response among the geodetic community. We are convinced the method is applicable and will be developed further.

In the field of geodetic science the deformation analysis is the procedure which is detailed studied for many decades. It is a demanding task from the theoretical and practical point of view. The result of deformation analysis is the conclusion about stability of geodetic points. In practice we often use the test statistic which cumulative probability distribution function is not known, and we determined it by simulations. The test statistic proved to be simple and applicable for day-to-day use: the points with significant displacements were identified successfully.

Linear Kalman filter was used as a method for the estimation of kinematic process observed with electronic tacheometer. Beacuase there is no redundancy of the measurements, we have used for real time measurements filters instead of classical geodetic adjustment. In this contribution, the three-dimensional linear Kalman filter model, i.e., continuous Wiener process acceleration model is controlled using a known reference trajectory. The results of numerical tests confirmed the appropriateness of the model for geodetic kinematic measurements, where no redundant observations are available.

The introduced modeling method, illustrated on the case of rural land transaction in Slovenia, is an advanced approach to a better understanding of public administration processes. A special emphasize is given to modeling language, that includes semantic concepts and appropriate notations, in order to be appropriate for capturing information about the static structure and dynamic behavior of a system. For modeling transactions, the unified modeling language UML was used. The approach presents an important contribution to understanding and optimization of different procedures in the society.

During construction of the Šentvid tunnel a unique opportunity arose to measure the 3D displacements ahead of the motorway tunnel excavation face, since the exploratory tunnel was already constructed in the axis of the main tunnel. According to reviewed literature such measurements had not been performed yet and several problems regarding equipment and complete scheme of the experiment needed to be overcome. A special attention is focused on the problems relating to the operation of the instrumentation in demanding underground environmental conditions.
