Gregor Majdič held an invited, one hour long lecture at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, USA in November 2007. He presented recent results from the studies regarding hormone independent brain sexual differentiation which were already published in two scientific articles. Results included quantitative analyses of cells expressing calbindin and neural nitric oxide synthase in different part of hypothalamus and preoptic area together with the results of behavioural analyses in WT and SF-1 knockout mice that develop in complete absence of exposure to sex steroid hormones.

The conference attended 441 participants from 44 countries. Program included 68 lecturers and 276 poster presentations as well as Slovenian workshops. Abstracts were published in the regular edition of the scientific journal “Reproduction in Domestic Animals” (IF = 1,503 for the year 2006). The organization of the conference contributes to the promotion of Slovenia.

In most cases there is as yet no conclusive proof of a direct link, but there are multiple plausible explanations for such links.
