In 2007, Prof. dr. Anton Tajnšek received the Jesenko Award for life work in the field of pedagogic, research and professional work. This is the highest award given by the Biotechnical Faculty for exceptional achievements in the sphere of biotechnical sciences. The Biotechnical Faculty also presents an award for exceptional achievements in the spheres of pedagogic, scientific or professional work. In 2005, Prof. dr. Borut Bohanec received the Award of the Biotechnical Faculty for significant scientific and professional publications in the sphere of biotechnology and plant breeding.

Bohanec and B. Javornik were members of the committees for transforming in accordance with the Bologna Declaration postgraduate, masters and doctoral studies of agronomy (Prof. Bohanec, pro-dean), biotechnology (Prof. Javornik, head of studies) and genetics (Prof. Javornik, coordinator).
