ACHEIVEMENT DESCRIPTION: This first scientific conference on the history of social work has its roots in a book, published by the author Darja Zaviršek in 2005: "Z diplomo mi je bilo lažje delat! Znanstveni zbornik ob 50-obletnici zgodovine socialnega dela v Sloveniji". / It was easier to work with a diploma! A scientific anthology at the 50th anniversary of the history of social work in Slovenia.

COBISS.SI-ID: 230293760The congress of social work is the largest congress in the field of social work, taking place biannually since 2002. It joints researches and professionals from social work, policy makers in the field of social politics, public health planners and users. It expands international, as also international professors and researchers join it. The programme committee also published a book of abstracts in Slovenian and English; by the end of 2008, two volumes of the journal Socialno delo (Journal of Social work) will be dedicated to the congress papers and articles.

Its effect is important for reference of the topic to international trends and for inducing change in social politics in Slovenia.

In the theory of the science of social work the main question is the working process of help in social work, despite the fact, that social work introduces paradigmatic changes in the redefinition of the process to contemporary helping concepts. One of it is the co-working to planned goals with users and experts. the users are seen as respectful and responsible allies. The model contributes to the so-called third mandate of social work.
