Pristava at Bled is maybe the most interesting earlymiddleages find-spot in eastern Alps. It comprehends stratigraphically intertwined settlement and related cemetery. The book presents all settlement-finds uncovered during the archaeological excavations since 1943. It reconstructs the slavic burnt graves form the 7.th century. New methods of taphonomic analysis are developed, the buildings remains are presented and the biggest data-base of earlymediaeval ceramics in Slovenia is published.
In the time of the Early Iron Age or Hallstat period the present Slovene space reached a significant economic and cultural rise. Predominantly developed was the region od Dolenjska to which abundant iron ore deposits contributed. The society of that time that as can be understood from burial and settlement structures did not surpass the tribal cycle. It was organised in communities whit chiefs at the head. At selecting a chief not only their origin was important but as well their heroic deeds personal charisma.
