Biocalcification crisis and negative stable carbon isotope anomaly at the Triassic-Jurassic boundary

At international scientific meetings, we presented three contributions treating isotope anomalies and radiolarian faunal turnovers at the Triassic-Jurassic boundary in the Budva Zone. These isotope curves are the first TJB isotope record reported from deep basinal successions.

The first preliminary results on stratigraphy and sedimentology of the reference Kovk section on Trnovski gozd were presented at the 18th Meeting of Slovenian geologists.

Paleocene-Eocene boundary in western Slovenia

At international scientific meetings, we presented five contributions treating the response of carbonate systems to global ecological and biotic crisis at the Paleocene-Eocene boundary. The boundary is characterized by a drastic decline in carbonate production by skeletal organisms and, instead, by predominance of microbially precipitated carbonates.

Pliensbachian radiolarians from the Northern Calcareous Alps

At international scientific meeting we presented a contribution on an extremely diverse Early Jurassic (Pliensbachian) radiolarian fauna from the Rettenstein locality. The research was carried out in a framework of formal co-operation with Austrian colleagues (bilateral project BI-AT/07-08-005).

We colaborated as guest editors of an extensive issue of Geodiversitas, in which all Mesozoic radiolarian genera described so far are illustrated and revised.
