SINJUR, Iztok, FERREIRA, Andreja, BOŽIČ, Gregor. Results of the study have shown that interpretation of Norway spruce population genetics adaptability parameter in connections with climatic data gained from official meteorological stations located outside of current sites only, do not allow us to correctly understand the impacts of specific processes to which spruce population was exposed in these sites.

KRAIGHER, Hojka, GREBENC, Tine, HANKE, David E. We have shown correlations between fine root growth, ectomycorrhizal type community and stress due to doubled ozone concentration in fumigation of adult beech trees with concentration of cytokinins in xylem sap.

Provenance testing on two different sites (international beech provenance trails) showed that in juvenil phase some provenances exhibited a general adaptedness and phenotypic stability, while other provenances were phenotypically instable, i.e. exhibited specific adaptedness in different growing site conditions.

The study describes results of population genetic studies structur of native spruce on hydromorphic Sphagno Piceetum sites which represents remnantsof the post glacial vegetation. Results allow as to insight in spruce population genetic adaptation potential for surviving into extreme site conditions which are underlongterm influence of strong natural selection preasure.

BOŽIČ, Gregor. In order to evaluate its genetic adaptability potential - evolution potential and its potential danger for losing genetic information in changing environmental conditions, genotypes of 1221 adult trees from 22 native spruce populations in Slovenia were investigated. In populations there exists a high potential danger for losing genetic information. Suggestions for dynamic conservation of spruce genetic variability and adaptability are provided.
