In the paper the influence of boot stiffness on the functional range of motion in ankle joint and consequently on ankle's push-off power is presented. The push-off power is important for energy efficient gait and out rules the need for compensation mechanisms and joint torques that may have negative impact or even injure the joint structure.

The paper demonstrates the positive aspects of tasks in virtual environments in combination with position controlled dynamometer resulting in selective motor control improvement that is of great importance for cerebral palsy children.

In chapter that is also related to former research projects we demonstrated that repeatable and targeted action in neurophysiologically impaired persons may improve selective motor control.

We have developed and tested several tasks in virtual reality in order to motivate the individuals to complete the task and focus on selected goal. Simultaneously the position controlled dynamometer (in this case acting as a robot) performs the desired movement that was assessed and evaluated in computer gait analysis.
