Results of systematic analyses on interaction of neutral atoms with fusion relevant materials are presented in this thesis. It represents an extensive experimental and theoretical work that has been performed in 2008 and 2009. The defense was in December 2009. It is the first report worldwide on measurements of both recombination probabilities as well as removal rates of hydrogenated carbon deposits with neutral oxygen and hydrogen atoms. The thesis represents a valuable database for future modeling of fusion plasma.
