Gathered data were used within a PhD thesis, which was successfully defended in November 2009. A statistical analysis of time series, which includes univariate and bivariate correlation and spectral analyses of discharge, precipitation and physical-chemical data of the Malenščica spring and the springs and streams in its catchment, was used to study the hydrodynamic characteristics of the karst aquifer.
D.09 Tutoring for postgraduate students
COBISS.SI-ID: 512547712M. Petrič, the leader of the project, was also the coordinator of the project SMART-KARST within the 6th Framework Programme. This project involves the organisation of the annual International Karstological School on sustainable management of natural resources on karst. In the year 2009 we had 128 participants from 31 countries, mostly young researchers. The co-workers of the Institute presented the results of our research work during the lectures and organised excursions.
