Forest management for forest owners.

The monography presents an overview of world forests, forest as an ecosystem, forest management and silviculture, forest health, wood production and other forest goods and services, and it is aimed for use by forest owners. The problematics of the ecological functions of forests and several other chapters in the handbook are considered as a direct application of results of this project.

Drinking water from mountain spring: a future illusion?

Demands for high quality of drinking water are increasing year on year, both in Europe and in the world. Although this problem is not distinctive in Slovenia, it is important to save water resources and to secure watershed areas clean. The importance of water management in mountain regions is described in the paper with respect to climate change and global warming. We introduced the case study of Krvavec ski resort where several water intakes are situated around the mountain. We stressed the role of land use change that can affect the quality of the water resources indirectly.

Development of technology for maintenance of land use maps and overgrowth and identification of land use changes in alpine meadows

Razvili smo tehnologijo za vzdrževanje karte rabe prostora in pokrovnosti ter odkrivanje površinskih sprememb na območju planinskih pašnikov, primerjali podatke Evidence rabe kmetijskih in goznih zemljišč MKGP, pokazali možnosti za bolj učinkovito delo pri vzdrževanju teh evidenc in prostorskih zbirk podatkov, ter jo vključili v dodiplomske predmete na UNI-Lj BF: Gozdne inventure in daljinsko pridobivanje podatkov, Daljinsko zaznavanje in osnove GIS v krajinskem načrtovanju, Prostorskoekološki monitoring in zasnova krajinskih informacijskih sistemov.
