Hozforschung is leading journal in the field of Wood science and technology. This article was written in cooperation with Goettingen university. In the frame of this research, influence of hydrophobic properties on performance of impregnated wood against wood decay fungi was determined. Montan wax was compared to amino-silicone compounds. The results showed, that hydrophobic properties are the key factor for resistance of wood in above ground applications but it does not offer sufficient protection for wood in ground contact.

Ethanolamine is one of the key components of the wood preservative solutions. It is used in combination with copper compounds or quternary ammonium compound or even waxes. In this resarch paper influence of ethanolamine on depolymeristaion of wood components was monitored. the results showed, that in certian conditions depolymerization can occurs, what reflects in loss of mechanical properties.
