Experiment is a key element in science. Abilities to conduct experiments and interpret results were analyzed using PISA 2006 data that show relatively high levels of scientific literacy of Slovenian students. However, detailed analysis of solving particular science units and comparison with the answers from Student questionnaire indicate some deficiencies of competences and knowledge related to the use of experimental approach in solving problems in science for Slovenian pupils and thus shows the possibilities how to improve achievement of Slovenian pupils in future.
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
COBISS.SI-ID: 2207844The paper outlines various aspects of the use of computer-assisted assessment. In the PISA2006 studie, where the focus was on science literacy, and assessment included an optional computer-based component - CBAS (Computer Based Assessment of Science) administered by three countries (Denmark, Iceland and South Korea). Alongside various aspects of the development of CBAS (test development, considering ICT literacy etc.) the paper focuses on comparison of the results of the computer-based component (advantages and weakness) with results obtained in the PISA 2006 paper-based assessment of science.
