In the article we present the first archaeometric study on shaft-hole axes from Caput Adriae. The origin of these axes has to be searched in the Banija Ophiolite Complex (Croatia). We also emphasise that there may have been a relation between the localization of the geological sources of shaft-hole axes and the development of metallurgical activities.

Pollen record indicates that the human impact on the vegetation at circa 4150 cal BC was intensive, and during c. 3750-2850 less intensive probably due to the change in settlement pattern.
