The present invention relates to a new compound in which atorvastarin and aliskiren are covalently bound. It also provides a by-product which can be used as an impurity standard for analysis of a new combined finished dosage. The new compound can be used as mutual prodrug of atorvastatin and aliskiren. Atorvastatin is known inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase and cholesterol biosynthesis and aliskiren is known as an inhibitor of the enzyme renin and may be used for the treatment of hypertension.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1415004The capabilities and limitations of NMR methods for the investigation of ligand-receptor interactions were presented. Two of our case-studies of NMR-assisted discovery of novel inhibitors of attractive antibacterial targets were used to explain the application of ligand-based and protein-based NMR methods. Special attention was given to the advantage of NMR spectroscopy in the studies of dynamic processes in molecular complexes. The influence of conformational dynamics on the stability of ligand-receptor interactions and on the inhibitory activities of novel ligands was presented.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4174618The NMR studies of configuration and conformation of selected drug derivatives from the LEK pharmaceuticals d.d. were performed to prove the differences in their molecular structure. The application of high magnetic fields and determination of molecular spatial connectivities were crucial for the elucidation of type of molecular framework transformation.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4309530The results of our spectroscopic and theoretical investigation of two model systems for protein folding studies, dipeptides and fully denatured ubiquitin, were presented. Our results disproved the long lasting commonly accepted interpretation, that experimental parameters of short peptides characterize the reference values of structurally disordered system, in which all sterically allowed conformations are equally populated. We showed that elements of local structure along the backbone chain in denatured proteins are more ordered as previously interpreted in the literature.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4111898We presented the comparison between various models which are used for description of the vibrations of molecular crystals with short hydrogen bonds. Experimental results were taken from Raman polarization measurements on monocrystals of oxalic acid dihydrate. We studied the effects of temperature and isotopic substitution on the spectra in phonon region.
