Structure elucidation of trans membrane proteins using public-available databases and experimental data on competitive inhibition

We present an approach towards structure elucidation of transmembrane bilitranslocase. The information about the structure of trans-membrane segments of proteins of known 3D structure is exploited to predict the trans-membrane domains of structurally unresolved target protein. To investigate the bilitranslocase transport mechanism, we tested a set of non-congeneric compounds for their competitive inhibition. The information about chemical structure and inhibition constants of small molecules helps us to build a hypothesis about the transport mechanism of the studied biological system.

QSAR in searching for new active substances and in regulatory processes

Two invited lectures, associated conferences in India. We presented the QSAR modelling. In the field of drug research we presented some results of research on anti-tubercular drugs. From regulatory toxicology we presented QSAR models, which were developed in the project CAESAR. Programs are available via internet and serve as support to European chemical legislation REACH.

Usage of secondary raw materials for pavements

The improvement of asphalt pavements with secondary raw materials added to bitumen or filler has been demonstrated. The additives are waste materials from industrial processes.
