The invention relates to specific nanoparticles, formulated molecular compositions containing them and use thereof. The invention further relates to a method for nanoparticles stabilization and encapsulation into the lipid vesicle, forming nanomagnetoliposomes and their use as unique simultaneously positive (T1) and negative (T2) targeted MRI contrast agents. The obtained bionanocomposites are capable of targeted delivery to the specific site or organ with its simultaneous MR monitoring in vivo. Such multifunctional nanoparticles/ nanomagnetoliposomes may be employed for in vivo medical diagnosis and/or treatment, e.g. tumoral diseases.

COBISS.SI-ID: 26994983Members of the group, Prof. Gorazd Planinšič and Assist. Prof. Ales Mohorič, had exceptional results in the field of didactics of physics and popularization of science in the last few years. The result of their work is a number of papers and textbooks (University textbook COBISS.SIID 253364480, Physics 1 and Physics 2 for gymnasiums COBISS.SI ID 266572032, 267174656, Physics, Specialist exam brochure for general gymnasiums COBISS.SI ID 2277732, Collection of exam tasks for gymnasiums with solutions from 2004 to 2009 COBISS.SI ID 252859392). In addition, they are also active in the editorial field at the national (Journal of Mathematics and Physics, Presek) and at the international level (Physics Education, European Journal of Physics). Because of these results, the Slovenian Science Foundation (SSF) awarded Prof. Planinšič a title "Science Communicator of the year 2013". Prof. Planinšič is the first who received this title by SSF, which will now be awarded each year. Beside the listed achievements the members of the research program group have been very active also in writing popular articles. Beside articles in journals Presek and Gea, a contribution on the history of MRI development in Slovenia was published in scientific supplement Znanost of daily newspaper Delo (COBISS.SIID 22786855). We have considerably contributed to the popularization of science also through contributions presented on TV (COBISS.SIID 3220337, COBISS.SIID 25302311, COBISS.SIID 2597220) and radio (COBISS.SIID 2636900).
E.01 National awards
COBISS.SI-ID: 253364480In the invited lecture at distinguished Korean university Yonsei an overview of the different uses of highresolution magnetic resonance imaging in studies in the field of biology, medicine and materials was presented in an invited lecture. The result of this lectures and joint published articles was the invitation of prof. Igor Sersa at Kyung Hee University in Koera, where he was a visiting professor in autumn 2013. Similarly, Prof. Gorazd Planišič was invited to University of Oregon, Eugene, OR, USA, where he was giving lectures on General physics. Prof. Janez Štrancar has been invited to the Politechnico Torino, Italy, to give a course in "Advanced experimental methods in biophysics/material engineering" in July 2013 for graduate students of Biomedical Engineering. After very positive evaluation of the attending students, J. Štrancar got an invitation for permanent affiliation to a new doctorate course on Biomedical Engineering and Surgical sciences on Politecnico Torino.
B.05 Guest lecturer at an institute/university
COBISS.SI-ID: 26161959Prof. Janez Štrancar was a leader of the project "Avanced bioactive, biocompatible and bioinert materials" in the framework of the Center of Excellence Advanced Materials and Technologies for the Future (CO NAMASTE). Activities within the project covered several areas with large application potential. One example is the area of antimicrobial coatings for surfaces. Development of functionalized surfaces based on our titanate nanomaterials enabled stable antimicrobial protection under realistic conditions; a case study in slaughterhouse in collaboration with a company Panvita Agromerkur d.o.o.. This protection shows nice results also in other test environments: antimicrobial textiles, HVAC systems, wastewater treatment, etc.. We additionally supported these activities through international ERANET project TABANA ("Targeting AntimicroBial Activity via micro/Nanostructured surfaces for civil Applications", 20112014, coordinator J. Štrancar). The protecttion technology is currently available on the market as a knowhow providing new way of solving the problem of antimicrobial protection in foodprocessing and health infrastructure without antibiotics. Similar function had also Prof. Igor Serša in the Center of Excellence ENFIST where he was a director of the project RRP15 "magnetic resonance imaging". As a result of this project a long term cooperation with the pharmaceutical company Krka was established. The cooperation is in the field of studies for the development of new tablets with drug control release. The obtained knowledge in the field of nanomaterials also led to establishment of a “spinout” company Nanos Scientificae d.o.o. where Stane Pajk is one of the cofounders.

COBISS.SI-ID: 26532647When humidity in the building falls below 45% or rises above the dew point near the thermal bridges, the mucosal tissue of the human respiratory system either dries with the hydration layer thickening too much, or it is attacked by the mold spores with no efficient drug to treat the infection, respectively. Both cases are known as the sickhouse syndrom. Despite the standards claiming that such conditions cannot occur in passive houses, it appears that certain combinations of building materials that exhibit slow binding or releasing of water promote or suppres the conditions which are harmful to human health. Based on our findings about interaction between water and cells in mucos or epithelia and recent development of cellulose materials we optimized the building blocks in real test houses to such an extent that the best building block is now used by the industrial partner. At the same time we have developed a control system to mantain and control the conditions in the test passive houses, which evolved controlers used in our spectroscopic methods to maintain appropriate measurement conditions (humidity, temperature, and gas composition). The mentioned research was conductes by a young researcher from industry in collaboration with company Eko produkt d.o.o.. After her training she also became employed by this company.
