COBISS.SI-ID: 31038425CASyM seminar/ workshop " Systems Medicine of Multifactorial Disorders " was held jointly with the 8th CFGBC Symposium in Ljubljana, from 12 - 15 June 2013, at the Medical Faculty, University of Ljubljana. The meeting represented the educational event of the FW7 project CASyM (Coordinated Actions Systems Medicine Europe), supported also by the European Infrastructure Program ISBE (Infrastructure Systems Biology Europe) and ELIXIR (European Life Sciences Infrastructure). The event lasted three days and a half, and was composed by two workshops, " From Omics to Understanding the Model Biological Systems " and " Systems of Medicine Multifactorial Disorders " (95 participants, a day and a half), and a two-day practical course "System Medicine of Multifactorial Disorders", with 13 students. We have also included a section where ESFRI infrastructure programs ISBE and ELIXIR were presented. We have organized a round table on education in the field of systems medicine in Europe and in the United States. On the practical course, the students learned about various mathematical and informatic approaches to tackle important medical problems. Workshop and course were evaluated with ECTS, and SILM and CME credits that have been awarded for the first time in Europe in the field of systems of medicine.

Being one of the largest scientific organizations in the European Union, with a view to the progress of research and education for the general benefit in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology, and related disciplines, FEBS is funding cutting-edge scientific and educational events from this area. FEBS events promote molecular life sciences in Europe and encourage co-operation between the different regions. FEBS Committee for the organization of schools and courses assesses the applications and decide on their financing in accordance with the rules of FEBS. The Committee has 8 members from different countries, who are elected by the General Assembly of FEBS among proposals from more than 20 Member States. Currently, D. A new biobank with tumour samples for mutual use will be created as well as an international network of health institutions and research centres. One of the project's main goals is also to establish a long-term collaboration among project partners. The project has established prerequisite research tools to be used in present and future research, including in this program.
