Technical basis for the preparation of regional spatial development plan for Ljubljana Urban Region-Strategic Environmental Assessment

The project Technical basis for the preparation of regional spatial development plan for Ljubljana Urban Region involved strategic environmental assessment (SEA); such a SEA has been prepared for the first time in Slovenia. Comparative evaluation of alternative scenarios resulted in a selection of the most favourable for which regional spatial plan is going to be developed.

Elemental and isotopic composition of honey from different geographical regions of Sloven ia

Elemental content and content of stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes were determined in samples of seven honey types from Slovenia: acacia, multifloral, lime, chestnut, forest, spruce and fir honey. The purpose is to develope a database and basis for the certification of geographic origin and quality of honey products.

The role of environmental accidental risk assessment in the process of granting development consent

The article shows how risk assessment (RA) related to accidental release of methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) or a polyvalent alcohol mixture from a new planned unit of a chemical factory in the Alpine region of Slovenia (Soča valley) was performed in the framework of an EIA for the purpose of obtaining a construction permit.

Tecnologies for the removal of pharmaceuticals from waste waters

This study also compared the treatment technologies according to the removal of carbamazepine and the production and decay of its transformation products, where, based on the enhanced biodegaradbility of carbamazepine residues achieved by UV irradiation.

Policy briefing on the latest updates related to mercury reduction technologies

The principal investigator was invited by the DG Environment to prepare a policy brief related to the latest research dedicated to the reduction of the emission of mercury. Integrated approach is needed to accurately assess cost effectiveness of possible choices.
