The technological procedure for production of milk draught with reduced level of uric acid and purine is designed with the aim to eliminate uric acid, as well as purine nad pyrimidine nucleotides, deoxyribonucleotides, nucleosides and free bases (adenine and guanine), which are naturaly present in milk.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2847788The strawberry cultivars Arosa, Clery, Miss, Raurica, Queen Elisa, Diamante and Madeleine grown in Slovenia were harvested at the commercially maturity stage and the content of total ascorbic acid and dehydroascorbic acid was determined. Ascorbic acid (AA) was measured by using high-performance liquid chromatography and photodiode array detector. The total AA content of cultivars ranged from 32.3 mg/100 g to 62.5 mg/100 g. No significant difference in total AA contents was observed in fresh and freeze-dried samples.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2907692We developed functional intestinal cell models that have been shown to be reliable standardised models for studying such events and for validating new potential drugs. Assessing the toxicity level, safety of food chemical contaminants and potential new drug candidates are nowadays carried out in in vivo (e.g. using animals) and in vitro (e.g. on cell lines) models. But, up to-date, very few intestinal cell models exist to mimic the interactions in the intestinal tract of animals and man.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2859308The potential mechanisms by which nutraceuticals/functional foods may alter host health was discussed. Whether or not we can someday administer nutraceuticals as designer food to patients will have to be decided by well-designed research The potentials of functional foods to mitigate disease and promote health is the most important fact for continuous researching and developing on this area.
