Successful Rietveld refinements of seven compounds with the formulae La2Ti(1-x)GaxO(5-x/2), where x = 0.00, 0.20, 0.50, 0.70, 0.90, 0.95 and 1.00, were performed in order to describe the solid solubility between La2TiO5 and La4Ga2O9. The similarity of both structures are also are also described.

Mononuclear molecular complexes [YCl3(diglyme)(THF)] and [LuCl3(diglyme)(H2O)], [ErBr3(diglyme)(H2O)] and dinuclear molecular complexes [MCl3(diglyme)]2 (M = Y , Lu) were prepared by reacting appropriate halogenide hydrate, (CH3)3SiX (X = Cl, Br) with diethyleneglycol dimethyl ether in THF. Crystals were obtained either from the above solution or after the precrystalization from dichloromethane.

Catalysts made from metal hydroxycarbonate precursors, have been used for methanol synthesis, water-gas shift reaction, ambient temperature carbon monoxide oxidation, and steam reforming of methanol. Cu/ZnO based catalysts was prepared by two step urea aqueous solution process at low temperature (90 oC). The particles preserved their size and shape after the heat treatment. Prepared Cu/ZnO samples showed catalytic activity for the reaction of steam reforming of methane.

Lanthanum manganite doped with strontium (LSM) is cathode material for high temperature fuel cells with high electronic conductivity and high catalytic activity for oxygen reduction. Homogeneous LSM powders were prepared by co-precipitation method and sintered at different temperatures. The electrical characteristics of the sintered LSM elements were, for the first time in the literature, described with respect to a model for the sine-wave approximation of the conductivity change for porous materials.
