In the project COSIT we proposed to developed a new kind of integrated high-power single-frequency terahertz source operating at room temperature, where one single laser emits at two distinct phase-matchable wavelengths with the exact wavelength separation required for the generation of the desired THz frequency. The project research area was Information & Communication Technologies. The project cost was 1.28 million EUR and was financed 75% under the funding scheme Future and Emerging Technologies (FET-Open). The work was done by an international consortium managed by a SME Rainbow Photonics A.G. Zurich, Switzerland. Our Nonlinear Optical Laboratory task was a development of the two frequency laser based on Nd:YAG and Yb:YAG crystals emitting the wavelengths of 1064 and 1030 nm, respectively. At the end of the project we have integrated our laser with the THz generating organic crystal to complete the source. The source was tested and characterized. The final result was a functional THz source at 9.3 THz.
