Organization and leading of the national infrastructural centre for surface plasmon resonance aimed to study the kinetics of molecular interactions. The centre is an integral part of the network of infrastructural centres at the University of Ljubljana.
D.07 Presiding over a centre/laboratory
CIPKeBiP is connecting the top available expertise, knowhow, and technology of Slovenian research laboratories in protein science, thus emphasizing biomedical relevance of the applied project (priority health and life sciences). The Centre includes ten partner institutions from central and northeastern region of Slovenia, among them five industrial entities. We are focused on specific biological issues of high scientific relevance and of high biomedical (infectious diseases, signaling pathways) and environmental (adaption mechanisms of extremofiles) importance.
D.02 Establishment of a research centre, laboratory, study course, association
Gregor Anderluh was named in 2010 for three years as a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal Analytical Biochemistry (ISSN: 0003-2697). He is the only Slovenian and one of the few European researchers in the editorial board. The impact factor of the journal (2011) is 2.996. Analytical Biochemistry is one of the leading journals in the fields of analytical chemistry (JCR ranking 19/73) and biochemical methodology (27/72). It is also in the top half of the journals in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology (129/290). Twenty two numbers are issued annually. Igor Križaj is a member of the Editorial Board of Toxicon (ISSN: 0041-0101) which impact factor (2011) is 2.508. Toxicon is the leading toxinology journal and among the best journals in the field of toxicology (36/83).
C.04 Editorial board of an international magazine
Several leading toxinologist founded a new series of symposia aimed at providing an international platform to scientists from academia, industry and clinical settings to discuss and explore this huge reservoir of potential lead compounds for drug development. The symposia has been named The Oxford World Symposium on Venoms. In the organization of the 1st Oxford World Symposium on Venoms, Venoms 2012, which took place at Oxford, UK, from 18. and 20.9.2012, also Igor Križaj was involved. The meeting attracted a large attention.
B.01 Organiser of a scientific meeting
The textbook includes chapters on cell biology and genetics for the highschool students. The authors used a personalized and inovative approach to explain complex cell life which is usually abstract and difficult to understand for the highschool students, especially those which are not interested in biology. This didactical approach was recognized by the jury of European Education Publishing Group (EEPG) and International Association for the Research on Textbooks and Educational Media (IARTEM). According to their decission in 2012 at the Frankfurter book fair the textbook was awarded bronze medal in the highschool textbook category.
