This work examines abscission in tomato and finds that it is associated with programmed cell death and expression of the RNase LX, both of which occur on the distal side of the abscission zone (the part that falls off the plant), indicating asymmetric processes occurring during abscission. The findings are important for possible use in biotechnological control of tomato fruit abscission.
F.13 Development of new production methods and tools or processes
COBISS.SI-ID: 2469199We cooperated in publishing a changed and an improved fifth edition of a handbook – a determination key Mala flora Slovenije. The monograph is the most complete work on wild and naturalized flora of Slovenia together with completely renewed determination keys.
F.01 Acquisition of new practical knowledge, information and skills
COBISS.SI-ID: 252878848We used our experiences, knowledge and data base, obtained in basic research, for development the sampling procedure as well as development of national indexes for ecological status assessment of rivers according Water Framework Directive.
F.11 Development of a new service
COBISS.SI-ID: 2316367In cooperation with synchrotron Elettra in Trieste (line TwinMic BL 1.1 L) that enables to study the localisation of elements in biological tissues with the help of low energy roentgen fluorescence spectroscopy (LEXRF), we developed a method for preparation of plant samples and studied the element localisation in the aleuron of the wheat grain.
F.11 Development of a new service
COBISS.SI-ID: 6030713We studied the effect of TiO2 nanoparticles on Allium cepa using a modification of the conventional Allium test with nanoparticles suspended in distilled water as opposed to growth medium. Nanoparticulate TiO2 was found to have low toxic potential and the mitotic index was among the most sensitive measures of the effect of nanoTiO2.
