The journal Hacquetia publishes articles on taxonomic, floristic, faunistic, phytosociological, biocoenological and palynological research. The journal is already considered a major publication in southeastern Europe. Despite the relatively short period it has been coming out it is embedded into international scientific discussions and included in some major international databases, such as EBSCO, SCOPUS, CAB, VINITI. The journal is available on the publishing house Versita’s website, where the articles can be linked to other databases through DOI codes, which facilitates online publishing.

COBISS.SI-ID: 120166144The final report dealt with four mollusc species (Mollusca, Gastropoda) from the Habitat Directive (Council Directive 92/43/EC) that occur in Slovenia: Anisus vorticulus (a snail), Vertigo angustior (narrow-mouth whorl snail), Vertigo geyeri (a whorl snail) and Unio crassus (thick-shelled river mussel). We tested the methods of field sampling and recording known to date and carried out trial monitoring for Unio crassus. We surveyed and sampled 375 locations, potential sites of Unio crassus (203), Vertigo angustior (126), Vertigo geyeri (26) and Anisus vorticulus (18).

COBISS.SI-ID: 31057197We studied the distribution and size of populations of three threatened species, Coenonympha oedippus, Liparis loeselii and Fritillaria meleagris. We evaluated the changes in their populations and habitats, defined the most significant factors that threaten the studied species and evaluated their influence on the changes in the distribution and size of the populations. A protocol for long-term monitoring was proposed that incorporates monitoring of the size of the populations, species distribution and habitat status. In addition to the report we prepared a draft for a poster and brochure.

COBISS.SI-ID: 30743853Last year was the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin’s birth and 150 years since the publication of his book On the origin of species by means of natural selection. Darwin became a synonym for understanding of life. Nevertheless, the theory of evolution through natural selection is still being rejected, especially in more religious societies., where the teaching of evolution has been discredited as an alternative, almost heretic interpretation of the living world. Evolutionary theory has been be presented as a common denominator between natural sciences and humanities.

COBISS.SI-ID: 29864237In the Julian Alps (the Fužina pasturelands, pastures Klek, Macesnovec, Vrtaški vrh, Vršič in the Martuljek mountains, Mala Ponca above Tamar), in the Karavanke mountains (the Završnica valley, Mt. Srednji vrh, Mt. Peca) and in the Savinja Alps (Dleskovška planota pasture) we conducted extensive floristic, faunistic, palynological, pedological, silvicultural and phytosociological research of larch forests. In the course of our investigations on pasture Klek a species new to the flora of Slovenia and the Southeastern Alps was discovered, the Scorzoneroides crocea = Leontodon croceus.
