The photographic exhibition “Sea and Salt” with programme group members as authors was organised to celebrate the International Year of Planet Earth (2008-2009). The photographs present the richness of the marine environment from the middle of the Bay of Piran to the salt pans of Sečovlje Salina Nature Park including salt basins, salt crystals and “petola” with characteristic microorganisms. Opening of the exhibition on World Ocean Day (8 June 2009) was accompanied by lectures presenting marine environment.

COBISS.SI-ID: 2008655Programme group researchers have prepared a comprehensive report as a background material for the State Spatial Plan and the Environmental Assessment of the Port of Koper. Report includes circulation characteristics of the Bay of Koper and environmental status of marine system in the Port of Koper. Data and analysis of currents, temperature, salinity, contamination of sediments with different inorganic and organic pollutants are presented as well as evaluation of pollution impacts using biomonitoring of test organism (mussel).
