Illiesia, the International Journal of Stonefly Research, publishes papers dealing with any area of plecopteran research. The Journal is published on the World Wide Web and printed by Mississippi College and the Slovenian Museum of Natural History, and it is freely available to all individuals and institutions. There are no page charges or reprint costs for contributors, thus the Journal provides an alternative to the high cost of publishing in many scientific journals. The on-line format permits inclusion of color figures, at no cost to the author, and it is possible to include large data sets, analyses and computerized sequences. 28 numbers of journal were published in 2011.

COBISS.SI-ID: 216329728Insects are due to their small size often overlooked, but more often are perceived as a nuisance insects or vermin. But insects are the richest group of species of living creatures on the planet. Million species already known, but at least twice as much remains unknown. Some even estimate their numbers to 30 million. The most successful group of insects are beetles (Coleoptera). And not only among insects, but also throughout the animal kingdom, which since three-quarters of all animal species on Earth belongs to the beetle. Researchers on the number of not entirely uniform, and it is estimated that today described the 300,000 and 400,000 species of beetles. Slovenian beetle fauna was documented in the central Slovenian bugs database, maintained by the Natural History Museum of Slovenia and maitained by entomologist Savo Brela. The collection is stored in 623 entomological boxes and has over 72,000 specimens prepared directly to the entomological needle or glued to the cardboard.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1072885The project collaborators were invited by national television RTV Slovenija in preparation of documentary about invasive animals. The documentary was aimed to raise public awareness on the problem of alien species in natural ecosystems. In the documentary we have presented first results of project on problems of alien crayfish species in Slovenia. As an example the case of newly discovered Australian crayfish population, the Redclaw Cherax quadricarinatus, in thermal oxbow Topla was given.
