6th EU FP - Marie Curie Early Stage Training Site - Green/Clean Processing of Bioactive Materials (SubClean Probiomat) - Leading/Coordinating of the project. The project was based on education and research of postgraduate students in the field of using supercritical fluids as: solvents for enzyme-catalyzed reactions, solvents for extractions of natural materials, and solvents for high-pressure micronization. Other project partners were: University of Bochum, University of Nottingham, University of Budapest, University of Trieste and University of Valladolid.

Since 2005, members of the programme group are organisers of an international meeting of students from Faculty of chemistry and chemical engineering in Maribor and Zagreb. The aim is to present results of the research staff from both faculties, meeting of undergraduate and postgraduate students, exchange of research and teaching ideas of teaching staff. During year 2009, a conference entitled "Applied Biocatalysis" was found and held parallely with the meeting.

Member of the research group was mentor to a young doctoral student from industry. The research was perfomed on development and optimization methods for isolation, concentration and formulation of carnosolic acid from rosemary and lutein diesters from marigold. New products with tailor made properties and active ingredient contents were produced: product with high content of carnosolic acid and powderous extract with high content of lutein diesters. Both processes were transferred to industry.

The invention relates to a method for the continuous production of gelatin powder. With this method it is possible, in contrast to known methods, to pulverize even high-molecular gelatin in a high starting concentration very efficiently without the addition of additives. With this method it is furthermore possible to produce gelatin powders that contain high percentages of valuable substances, particularly lipophilic valuable substances.
