Described is a new method of hydriding of rapidly solidified ribbons as a potential hydrogen storage in a solid phase. On Melt-Spinner a rapid solidified ribbons of alloy based on Ni and Mg were produced. It was found that hydrogen reached up to 1.4 wt. % at Mg-14Ni alloy. The benefit is that RS ribbons are used directly as cathodes and need no pre-treatments. Therefore it is believed that electrochemical hydriding can be considered a promising alternative to the classical elemental synthesis of hydrides.

Metal injection moulding (MIM) is a promising technology for the mass production of small, complex, near-net-shape products. In the article two different techniques for measuring the rheological properties of MIM feedstock are presented and compared. The results of the FEM simulation of the filling phase and a comparison with the experimental results are presented in the article.

We have investigated the influence of delta-ferrite content in Cr-Ni-Mo stainless-steel cast alloys on the magnetic characteristics. Samples of cast alloys with mass fractions 9-11 % of Ni, 18-21 % of Cr and 1.8-2.5 % of Mo. The measurements of delta-ferrite content with a hysteresisgraph and a vibrating-sampling magnetometer showed that it does not change with ageing temperature and time. This confirms the hypothesis that only the internal ferrite structure is changed during ageing because of the spinodal decomposition.

Presented are principles of laser sintering (DMLS). Metal powder mixtures were used for the direct metal laser sintering experiments. Substrates like simple blocks and complex tool-inserts for pressure die casting of Al-based alloy were prepared. Additional improvement of wear resistance and thermal stability of the sintered product is possible by surface finishing and hard coating. The development of finer metal powders and new chemical compositions, combined with new multilayer-based hard coatings enable further improvement of their wear and temperature resistance.

The paper presents the problems with the quality of surface of die for pressure die casting of Mg-alloy. Not suitable nitriding process of the tools surface caused the spalling off nitride layer that caused bad quality of the surface of the Mg-alloy castings.
