Humanoids 2011

IEEE­RAS International Conference on Humanoid Robots is the main conference in the area of humanoid robotics worldwide. It is sponsored by IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, which is the prime robotics society in the world. The member of our porgramme group dr. Ude was a general chair of this conference in 2011 and organised it at Bled, Slovenia, in October 2011 (http://www.humanoids2011.org/). Humanoids is the biggest and most important conference sponsored by IEEE RAS, which has been organised in Slovenia up to now.

Instructions for the installation and operation of automated cell for glass preblowing

In glass manufacturing company Steklarna Hrastnik we developed an automated system for pre blowing of glass products. The system can process a wide range of different glass products. When a new product is introduced, we measure the parameters relevant for the process of glass forming. Based on these parameters we prepare a computer description which is necessary to carry out the automatic process of glass forming. For this work we received the Golden price for innovation, which is awarded by the Chamber of commerce and industry of Slovenia.

Object-action complexes

In the last period of funding our program group conducted and has still been conducting a number of large EU projects in the area of robotics and physiology. These are: IP projects PACO­PLUS (Perception, action, and cognition through learning of object action complexes) and Xperience (Robots Bootstrapped through Learning from Experience) and STREP projects IntellAct (Intelligent observation and execution of Actions and manipulations), CoDyCo (Whole­body compliant dynamical contacts in cognitive humanoids), PlanHab (Planetary habitat simulation), and ACAT (Learning and Execution of Action Categories). The value of each of these projects for our program group was between slightly less than 500.000 Euros to more than 1.000.000 Euros. This paper describes the final result of the PACO­PLUS project, i.e. object­action complexes, which combine low­level sensorimotor representation and high­level symbolic representations.
