COBISS.SI-ID: 27062567The role of surface preparation, hydrothermal ageing exposure and subsequent cyclic fatigue testing of the biaxial strength of a dental Y-TZP material are investigated. The initial strength and survival rate of a dental Y-TZP ceramic material to fatigue testing was found to be highly dependent upon surface preparation more so than exposure to various hydrothermal exposure conditions.

COBISS.SI-ID: 27419175In this presentation, dental zirconia ceramics were elucidated from an engineering perspective, by considering the interrelationship between the composition, microstructure and the mechanical properties of yttria partially stabilized tetragonal zirconia (Y-TZP) ceramics, as well as the mechanisms and the kinetics of the reactions leading to a material’s degradation under thermal and mechanical cyclic loading in a chemically aggressive environment of the oral cavity.
