A so-called Differential Ant-Stigmergy Algorithm was applied to a real-world problem, where the efficiency of the radial and axial subsonic impeller of a vacuum cleaner produced by Domel, d.o.o. was optimised. Here, the radial impeller was presented using parametric modeling. Due to a large number of parameters and consequently enormous search space, an efficient meta-heuristic approach was inevitable. As a result the aerodynamic power was increased by twenty per cent.

COBISS.SI-ID: 12465435We have developed a hybrid inertial sensors and camera based indoor pedestrian dead reckoning system, which could be used for person navigation in demanding environments. An inertial unit, a camera and a marker are rigidly attached to the shoe, making the solution self-contained. To limit the error growth with time, a well-known issue with inertial sensors, computer vision-derived position measurements at some time instances are fed to a complementary unscented Kalman filter, enhancing the accuracy of the estimated travelled path.

COBISS.SI-ID: 10040148Highly reliable applications on FPGAs employ SEU mitigation and recovery techniques at different system levels. For this, modular redundancy and runtime partial reconfiguration are commonly employed techniques. Reported solutions feature different trade-offs in the area-overhead and the fault latency. We have developed a SEU-recovery mechanism for SRAM-based FPGAs which has a low hardware overhead and supports different self-recoverable architectures. The efficiency of the proposed approach was evaluated with a specially developed fault-emulation environment. The resulting estimated reliability is superior to the other reported solutions. In the next phase we plan to conduct realistic fault injection experiments at TRIGA reactor. The results will contribute to the assessment of reliability of the developed recovery mechanism in FPGA based embedded systems in the presence of radiation.

COBISS.SI-ID: 25189159Slovenian food composition database (FCDB) is generated systematically in the frames of national projects. The preliminary FCDB was created in 2003 applying the Alimenta nutritional software. Data comprised were of differing quality. In the next project data on composition of meat and meat products of Slovenian origin were aggregated from analyses and the preliminary FCDB was reassessed and low-quality values were discarded. The first volume of Slovenian FCDB with information about meat and meat products was published in 2006 in electronic and paper version. When Slovenia joined EuroFIR Noe harmonized standards and LanguaL indexing system were adopted. Nutritional software Optijed was developed and was later upgraded to the Open Platform for Clinical Nutrition (OPEN). This is at the same time also electronic version of FCDB, currently comprising 620 food items, and the Slovenian node in the EuroFIR virtual information platform. With assimilation of data obtained in the latest project, focused on composition of foods of plant origin from our ecosystem that are indigenous or typical of Slovenia and frequently consumed, Slovenia will acquire a good source of food compositional values of consistent and compatible quality.

COBISS.SI-ID: 4166264This patent solves the technical problem of storing the data in the kitchen scale and implementation of input/output unit for communication between computer and scale. The programmable device within the kitchen scale enables simple transmission and updating of personal nutrition table and nutritional data of foods into the scale. According to the estimated values of weighted foods and the carbon-hydrate ratio the insulin dose is determined, to be injected by the user to get the appropriate daily dose.
