Due to a large number of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) on the market, it is important to develop a system for cost-effective detection and identification of GMOs in food, feed and seed samples. In collaboration with the National institute of biology, we have formally defined the laboratory-level GMO traceability optimization problem and developed a decision support system which evaluates combinations of assays according to their cost and coverage of GMOs. The GMOtrack program is publicly available on the website http://kt.ijs.si/software/GMOtrack/ .
