The article treats nonstationary oscillations and passage through fundamental resonance of electromechanical systems with nonideal energy sources. In dependence on parameters the existence of resonance wavering of the system with rotating disc mounted on an elastic shaft in undercritical frequency range, resonance stagnation at some undercritical frequency in systems with rotating disc on the elastic shaft and system with rotating eccentric mass and vibration damper as well as beating phenomenon in the passage through critical frequency in motoring or braking mode, respectively are observed.

The article treats the nonstationary control of the combustion process in a Rijke tube by using Extended Lindstedt-Poincare method with multiple time scales. Without control of the fuel influx, the nonstationary self excited oscillations are unstable approaching limit cycle. By applying the fuel control, self excited oscillations are quenched by eliminating the Nitrogen-Oxygen polution.

Periodic solutions of nonlinear jerk dynamical systems, whose governing equations involve third order time-derivative are presented by applying harmonic balance (HB) method. To construct accurate higher order analytical solutions, the HB method is adapted so that additional harmonic terms can be arbitrarily added. The usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated on two different types of jerk equations.

This paper discusses topology optimization of continuous structures by using a level set function and a design element. The novelties of this approach are design element usage in order to parameterize the level set function and a general formulation of the optimization problem, which is independent of the considered problem. The results of our initial investigations are illustrated by a numerical example of optimizing a short cantilever.
