The main goal of the project for the Energy agency of the Republic of Slovenia was derivation of substitutional consumption characteristics of natural gas consumers, which will in the future serve as basis for projection of natural gas consumption in Slovenia. Based on collected measured hourly natural gas consumption between the years 2009 and 2013 from 260 measuring stations substitutional consumption characteristics dependent on temperature of different significant consumer groups were developed. Based on that the methodology for computational determination of prediction of natural gas consumption, which is based on predicted temperature values, was developed.

COBISS.SI-ID: 17985558The energy utilization of municipal solid waste is possible with the appropriate integrated waste management system and utilization of appropriate technologies. In the process of development of a suitable WastetoEnergy technology, the application of advanced engineering computer simulation tools (CFD) should become standard for every R&D in WtE technology design. CFD can provide results, comparable to tests on full scale equipment, and can therefore significantly shorten the development time of WtE technolgies. The developed processes enable faster and more economical introduction of solid waste utilization technologies.

COBISS.SI-ID: 16760854Three different trashrack designs were examined and compared regarding energy losses. The river’s flow from 200 m upstream of the hydropower plant to the turbine inlet was simulated by 3D CFD simulations in order to predict the correct velocity field ahead of the trashrack. The local headlosses caused by the trashrack were then calculated using an empirical formula at each point of the velocity field, and finally integrated to obtain the gross headloss caused by the specific trashrack design operating under selected flow rate. Annual losses during electricity production were predicted using experimentallyobtained river flowrate data and the net profit loss calculated which served for the final study of the particular trashrack design’s economics.

The scope of the invention is the preparation of solid fuel for energy recovery from non-hazardous waste materials. The invention discloses a method of obtaining solid fuel with specific physical-chemical properties of non-hazardous waste materials. The process of obtaining solid fuels with a certain calorific value and other relevant physical-chemical properties of non-hazardous waste materials is carried out in several steps: • a representative sampling of the input solid non-hazardous waste, • analysis of the organic and inorganic part of the samples, • calculation of the weight of non-hazardous input waste materials with the mathematical model according to desired the physical-chemical properties and heating value of the solid fuel, • mechanical treatment and homogenization of waste and extraction of metals on the production line, • analysis of technologically prepared material on the calorific value and other relevant physical-chemical parameters. Based on the observed deviations from the values calculated by the mathematical model, the appropriate corrective blending quantities are determined to achieve the desired fuel parameters • repeated mechanical treatment with adding the appropriate quantities of the materials to correct the quality characteristics of the produced fuel.
