In 2005 was published a first issue of International Journal of Dynamics of Fluids which editor-in-chief is prof.dr. Leopold Škerget. This editorialship enables slovenian researches to have direct influence on trends in fluid mechanics and heat transfer, and direct access to international reviewers. The mechanism of reviewers are transparent (albeit to narrow circle of members of editorial board) and those comparative advantages of articles which are of particular relevance in different circles.

COBISS.SI-ID: 9875734Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FME) is one of 32 partners in the project MOBILIS (6. frame work). In the scope of this project, successful cooperation among slovenian biodiesel producer, fuel consumer and our FME was established. Biodiesel fuels, produced in Biogoriva were tested in our Laboratory for IC Engines on the bus engine of public transport company LPP. The engine has been modified. In this way, the experimentally and numerically obtained results at our laboratory, were used to reduce harmful emissions in Slovenia and to stimulate the usage of alternative fuels in Slovenia.
Project work deals with the analysis of thermal properties of the door seals of company Turna d.o.o. in the refrigerator and freezer appliances. An analysis was made of heat seals for imperfect fit to the body or to door of refrigeration devices, thereby enabling penetration of cold or warm ambient air in the area with the seal. Additionally, analysis of improved seal geometries was made. Based on the conclusions of research work, change in the magnetic part of seal was made, which consequently resulted in up to 30% reduction in heat losses in the sealing apparatus.

COBISS.SI-ID: 13743894In this invited lecture we presented a numerical algorithm based on the Boundary element method. We have demonstrated the capabilities of the algorithm by simulationof natural convection around a hotstrip.
