Tatjana Rijavec is editor-in-chief, Vili Bukošek, Petra Forte Tavčer and Barbara Simončič are members of editorial board of the journal Tekstilec, ISSN 0351-3386 (printed), ISSN 2350-3696 (online), UDK 677 + 687 (05). Tekstilec is the Slovene journal for textile and clothing technology, design and marketing. In 2013, four issues of Tekstilec were published in volume 56. These issues included 20 scientific and 12 professional articles. According to Thomson Reuters Web of Knowledge, the scientific papers published in Tekstilec were cited 192- times in the period of 2009−2013.
C.05 Editorial board of a national magazine
Barbara Simončič was a president of scientific committee, and Petra Forte Tavčer was a president of organising committee of the 44th Symposium on Novelties in Textiles entitled Sustainability in Textiles, which was carried out on the 6th of June 2013 in Ljubljana. Scientific programme included 4 plenary lectures 11 lectures and 31 posters. There were more than 100 participants at the symposium. This every year event has a great importance for the transfer of the knowledge from the research institutions to the Slovene textile industry (F.18). Barbara Simončič and Petra Forte Tavčer were co-editors of the symposium’s Book of abstracts (COBISS.SI-ID 267281152).
B.01 Organiser of a scientific meeting
COBISS.SI-ID: 267281152In recent years, a sensitivity of the public to the presence of dangerous chemicals in the immediate surroundings of human body, including textiles, increased. In a series of interviews to the media, newspapers as well as television and radio, the chemicals which can be expected in the textiles and apparel were described with emphasis on those that may represent a potential hazard to the human health and to the environment. The eco-labels which inform the consumers that the products are safe for their health and have also the lowest influence on the environment were discussed.
F.30 Professional assessment of the situation
COBISS.SI-ID: 2904944The Slovenian society for Vacuum Technique organised the 20th International Scientific Meeting on Vacuum Science and Technique, which was held from 9th to 10th of May 2013. The meeting aims at presenting the latest scientific advances in the interdisciplinary field of vacuum techniques and technologies applications and exchange of views. The program committee invited the top scientists that have in recent years contributed to significant discoveries in international treasury of knowledge, particularly in the rapidly growing science field the use of vacuum processes in nano-and bio-technologies. At the meeting 15 oral and 39 poster presentations were presented. Marija Gorjanc attended the meeting as an invited lecturer.
B.04 Guest lecture
COBISS.SI-ID: 2871920Andrej Demšar and Krste Dimitrovski visited School of Materials Science & Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology from March 28, 2013 to April 28, 2013. During their visit they held the lecture »Educational and research activity of Department of Textiles of Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering of University of Ljubljana« to the faculty members in the frame of which the University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, Department of Textiles and the pedagogical and research activities at the Department of Textiles were presented (COBISS.SI-ID 2871152). Several meetings are held to discuss joint research on synthetic fibre drawing studies and future plan to extend the collaboration on the subject. Other activities included meetings with faculty members, interaction with graduate students in their research activities, and visits to laboratories. Such activities are expected to lead to more collaboration between Georgia Tech and University of Ljubljana in research and educational programs.
