Surface integrity describes the state and attributes of a machined surface and its relationship to functional performance. Surface integrity can be divided into two aspects: the external topography of surfaces and the microstructure, mechanical properties and residual stresses of the subsurface layer. Performance characteristics that are sensitive to surface integrity include fatigue strength, fracture toughness, corrosion rate and tribological behavior. This chapter presents an overview of residual stresses and microstructural modification in surface layer after mechanical machining.
F.02 Acquisition of new scientific knowledge
COBISS.SI-ID: 11311131When entering the global market, companies encounter difficulties, the most severe being long product development times and too high costs of sequential product and process development. In order to overcome this problem, the companies will have to make a shift from sequential product development to a project-driven concurrent product and processes development as soon as possible. The paper presents a procedure for project-driven concurrent product and processes development by three strategic management methods: parallelness, standardisation and integration of product development processes.
F.01 Acquisition of new practical knowledge, information and skills
COBISS.SI-ID: 11691803The study analyzed the effects of process parameters on the efficiency and quality of the manufactured grooves in the ferromagnetic substrate.
F.13 Development of new production methods and tools or processes
COBISS.SI-ID: 11329051The IT support for managing production is developed. It represents a new approach that allows the transformation of the present way of production into a new structure composed of autonomous work systems. In this context, the information system LIMES2 and a model for its deployment is developed. In addition to the implementation of the sistem in Litostroj Power it is also introduced in the foundry in PC3 Buzet which belongs to group CIMOS. LIMES2 is prototypicaly introduced also in some other subsidiaries of CIMOS.
F.15 Development of a new information system/databases
COBISS.SI-ID: 11418395Development of pulse shapes for repair welding and cladding of tools and products using developed laser technology. There were several research project successfully finished and several papers published on the field of laser welding, cladding and repair welding of tools. The developed technology was transferred to the industry (TKC d.o.o. - spin off) where a new service of laser welding of hard to weld materials and products was developed.
