Probability of fire ignition as function of exposition to ignition sources and surface of the objects, two main process parameters with highest ponder, for a serie of studied examples is presented. Corellation is usefull fire for prediction of ignition probability under reasonable taking into account the relevant process parameters.

The microalgae Chlorella vulgaris was cultured in a combined medium obtained by mixing standard laboratory Jaworski medium with a solution from the modified Solvay process that contained only NaHCO3 and NH4Cl. Cell number, pH and nitrogen content were monitored throughout growth. The lipids were extracted from lyophilized biomass using CHCl3-MeOH. A combination of grinding, microwave treatment and sonication proved to give the best lipid extract yield. Freeze-dried algal biomass was also utilized for thermal degradation studies. The degradation exhibited three distinct regions - primary cell structure breakage paralleled by evaporation of water, followed by two predominant exothermic degradation processes.

In contribution the role of chemical engineers in technical management connected with environment protection and process cost reduction in chemical and process industry is presented. The knowledge and experience of chemical engineers are of highest importance in transfer of research results to pilot plant and further to industrial scale. In concept of this approach also environmental and economical criteria contribute and have to be taken into account in order to ensure successful product engineering.
