Members of the programme group were organizers (Maja Cemazar) and invited speakers (Masa Bosnjak, Andrej Coer, Mitja Rak, Cecil Meulenberg, Gregor Sersa, and Maja Cemazar) at the international workshop Cancer Workshop: From prevention to novel treatment approaches. The workshop was organized at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Primorska and in collaboration with the Trans2Care project. The workshop was aimed at the undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers, academic personnel, medical doctors, nurses as well as interested general public. The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of biological and clinical aspects of cancer prevention, risk and treatment. Additionally, advanced methods used in cancer research were presented in laboratory demonstration.

This research work was conducted within the scopes of international collaboration with other research groups. Tanja Dolinsek in 2013 and Bostjan Markelc in 2012 were guest researchers at the Institut de Pharmacologie et de Biologie Structurale (IPBS CNRS) in Toulouse, France. Masa Bosnjak was a guest researcher at the Old Dominion University, Norfolk, USA in 2013. During her stay, she held a lecture on gene electrotransfer as a delivery system for antiangiogenic therapy. Natasa Tesic was a guest researcher at the Drug Research Institute, Universite Catholique de Louvain, Brussels, Belgium in 2013.

COBISS.SI-ID: 1702267Members of the program group received various national awards for their research work. Prof. dr. Gregor Serša was part of the team of the Laboratory of Biocybernetics, from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, that received the Rector's Award for Innovation - ECTplan, a software for treatment planning of deep-seated tumors with electrochemotherapy, which allows doctors to produce patient personalized treatment plans. Maja Cemazar received Golden award of University of Primorska for her major contribution to the development of scientific research and her contribution to promoting international reputation and recognition of University of Primorska. Sara Prijic (in 2012) and Bostjan Markelc (in 2013) were awarded Krka’s prize for postgraduate students for their PhD theses. Research achievements of the PhD theses were included in the Proceedings of Krka Prizes. Bostjan Markelc was awarded University Presern award in 2009 for his graduation thesis.
E.01 National awards
Members of the programme group collaborate in various scientific boards as experts in the field of biomedical research in translational oncology. Maja Cemazar was vice-dean for research at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Primorska. As vice-dean for research, she contributed to the development of the scientific work and to the promotion of University of Primorska. Maja Cemazar is also a member of the Ethics comitee for animal research and a member of the Scientific Board for deliberate release of genetically modified organisms into environment and placing products on the market. Gregor Sersa is a vice-president of the Scientific Board for Medical Sciences (field of oncology) at the Slovenian Research Agency.
D.08 Management and development of research activities
Prof. Gregor Serša is editor-in-chief of international journal Radiology and Oncology. Radiology and Oncology is a multidisciplinary journal promoting Slovenian and international research in the field of radiology and oncology internationally. Quality of the journal is improving every year. The journal is included in ''SCOPUS'', ''Web of Science'' and ''PubMed'' databases. In 2011, the journal received an impact factor.
