The interview on TV SLO addressed the possibilities of using genetics and genome studies in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. The main themes were genetic analyses and their use in clinical practice. Genetic analyses could help in building prediction models, indicating how a patient will react to certain drugs. The event also emphasized potential genetic guidelines for the future.

In 2013/2014 one of our doctoral students is conducting research at Northwestern University, USA. She is involved in researching scleroderma, a severe autoimmune disease for which there is currently no cure. Her work includes determination of the role of adiponectin in the development of early fibrosis using in vivo and in vitro models, potencial biomarkers in patients with scleroderma and to research pharmacological strategies of fibrosis resolution.
