This article discusses a difference between a dynamic of natural growth in a landscape and static character of architecture. The difference starts with urbanization, or better, by placing settlements into the space. Each space is composed of natural elements forming a characteristic spatial context into which is placed a built fabric. One can see from types of settlements how space was understood and if natural processes were considered in a process of building up the landscape. Beside a fact, that urbanization transforms the space there are still many landscape characteristics that remains in the space. Discussion leads further in a relationship between the architecture (a house) and surrounding open space (a garden) focusing on possibilities of expanding the space into the open space if architecture allows it.
