The paper presents a case study of analysis of preference maps for municipality Komenda, where residents marked areas, which should be preserved. To make the best of their potential usefulness in spatial planning and to contribute to the transparency of the process, we inferred explicit decision criteria in the form of relations between preferential annotations and spatial characteristics, using selected data mining approaches. They were reported in the form of decision rules and in a graphical form of a nomogram. The methodology has proven to be useful for applicability in spatial planning.

The paper pesents the measures, which may support planning of housing areas with high living quality. It underlines the role of the landscape as one of the key aspects. The identification of measures was based on criteria from theories of interrelation between the form of the housing structures and the quality of living as well as Maslow hierarchy of needs. Seven identified measures were used to evaluate a set of chosen housing areas from abroad as well as one reference case from Slovenia. The resulting measures can be used as guideline for planning new housing areas.

This paper will present a comparative study of the introduction of the tulip in Slovenia and in Europe. The work method is based on the investigation of archival material, provincial chronicles, and descriptive accounts. On the basis of the evaluation of this collection, it is possible to strongly support the hypothesis that the introduction of decorative bulbs (and particularly tulips) in Slovenian lands did not lag far behind the rest of Europe.

The central problem formulated in this research is to determine the selection criteria of plant species, arising from their visual characteristics and, based on these criteria to determine the suitability of plants to create visual effects of a tree avenue. 193 trees species are systematized according to their size, shape, habitus, texture, colour, as well as the seasonal appearance of individual characteristics. We established criteria for the selection of morphological properties of the trees that allowed us to achieve a certain visual character of a tree avenue.
