Synchrotron radiation soft X-ray full-field imaging mode (FFIM) and low-energy X-ray fluorescence (LEXRF) spectromicroscopy were applied to characterize major structural features (nucleus, globoids) and the subcellular distribution of physiologically important elements (Zn, Na, Mg, Al, Si and P) in wheat. These methods reveal the accumulation patterns between the apoplast and symplast and highlight the importance of phytate globoids and walls as preferential storage structures.

The new process solves the problem of EDTA recycling after washing of soils contaminated with toxic elements. Sacrificial Al anode was used to replace toxic metals from EDTA complex in alkaline pH with Al, while released metals were electro-deposited on stainless steel cathode. After neutralization the recycled EDTA maintains the same soil metal removal capacity as fresh EDTA.

Carbon fluxues were measured between different stages of secondary successions of a karst grassland by Eddy covariance method and soil parameters. As expected, dynamic of carbon fluxes differed regarding landuse, forest was the strongest carbon sink.
