The book deals with 359 narratives (by 143 authors, 26 million words total) from the mid of the 19th century till today, which reflect the national past and model the strategies for the historical behaviour. The corpus is devided into the novels about Antique, chivalric romance, biographical novel, the novel about Ottomans, Uskoki, the counts of Celje, witches, lutherans, local history etc. The comparison to the rural story, German historical novel and the precedent domestic texts is made.

The paper treats the history of the category originality. It takes as a starting point the thesis that originality became an artistic criterium as late as in the Enlightenment. The changing of the concept of the authorship over the centuries had its consequences also for the changing of the status of the translation: the rise of the Author to the throne of the absolute Creator of the artistic world caused the fall of the status of translators as secondary. This hierarchic relation had lasted until recently, when the Post-modernism, phenomenology and reception theory rehabilitated translators.

The article investigates whether the assumption that teaching staff should always teach translation into their A language is supported by factual evidence. Digital recordings of lessons conducted by translation teachers who are native and non-native speakers of the TL and questionnaires seem to suggest that native language does influence the way teachers teach translation; however, it is argued that it would be useful to engage both teachers that are native and those that are non-native speakers of the TL at different stages of translation training.

The oral assessment in Literature teaching continues the process of literary interpretation with the same objective to increase the student`s oral communication with literary texts. The oral assessment should put more stress on student` oral interpretation such as reciting or reading aloud. The result of an empirical study among teachers and students which confirm these assertions are hereby reported and commented.

This article treats the chief collection of international comparative literature, "A Comparative History of Literatures in European Languages", in the form of a "case study" - namely, the volume Romantic Prose Fiction. It demonstrates that the difficulties that have accompanied this project spanning several decades are of two types: conceptual and ideological (or pragmatic). The greatest obstacle to carrying out the project is a prevailing western-centrism and conceptual uncertainty. The article suggests how it is possible to overcome both obstacles.
