The TV programme portrays France Bučar, who had decisive influence on the process of the Slovenian democratisation and attainment of Slovenian independence in the end of the 1980s and the beginning of 1990s. The fact that he was the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia meant that he had extraordinary power and decisive influence on the legislative stage in the process of establishing the Slovenian state, which was so meticulous and legalistic that the international community could not overlook it (no matter how hard it tried).

COBISS.SI-ID: 2730868The monograph analyses the political, social, economic and cultural cooperation and mutual perception of Slovenians and Czechs in the age of the modern, when both these nations were forming. The authors expect that the thematisation of the issues under consideration, structured in this manner, will ensure the most comprehensive insight into the individual parallels of the Slovenian and Czech historical development to date. By exploring the research problems thoroughly, this monograph paves the way for future cooperation in the Central Europe.

COBISS.SI-ID: 250632192The symposium focused on the transition of Slovenia from a one party system to a politically pluralist society. The papers focused on the formation of democratic structures in the 1980s and on the development of their ideological, political and social economic concepts as well as socio political practices at the turn of the 1980s. These were not completely realised in what was a relatively short period of time, but they affirmed themselves as a long term plan for the establishment of the Slovenian state as a modern parliamentary democracy of the Western European type.

D.10 Educational activities
COBISS.SI-ID: 257680128In six years of the Institute's scientific publication Prispevki za novejšo zgodovino [Contributions to the Contemporary History] (editor in chief Dr Damijan Guštin, managing editor Dr Zdenko Čepič) 157 original scientific articles, 50 expert articles and 70 book reviews were published. In the aforementioned bibliographic units the authors – researchers from Slovenia and abroad – analysed a variety of important questions of the Slovenian as well as foreign political, social, cultural, military and ideological contemporary history. Publications in the Prispevki za novejšo zgodovino are especially valuable since they enable the members of the research programme Idejnopolitični in kulturni pluralizem in monizem na Slovenskem v 20. stoletju to promptly publish the results of their research work in the context of the programme.
