The paper deals with the history of research on sexual behavior in Slovenia. Contrary to the Western research there is no long tradition of research in Slovenia. It starts at the beginning of the 1990s. Before (1970s and 1980s), research was done mainly on family planning and had not included items on sexual behavior. Most studies were in the field of public health, only two were sociologically oriented. The main difference between the two types is in an orientation toward more positive aspects of sexual behavior in the latter and a more problem-oriented perspective of the former.
