This article presents the results of the development of prediction models for characterization and dating of parchment using NIR spectroscopy. Shrinkage temperature of collagen fibers is the most common method for determining the condition of parchment. By using PLS calibration and NIR spectra a non-destructive model for predicting temperature shrinkage of samples of parchment was obtained, with the uncertainty of prediction up to 7 °C (RMSEV). In the case of dating of samples by NIR spectroscopy, the average error is 72 years (RMSEV)..
